LEARN ABOUT AND PARTICIPATE IN OUR ONGOING PROJECTS

PILARES DE APRENDIZAJE

We are convinced that strengthening the school trajectories of children experiencing socio-educational vulnerability is a strategy that promotes inclusion. That is why we have set out to improve the educational quality for our beneficiaries through the “PILARES DE APRENDIZAJE” project. We aim to provide children with a program that strengthens their academic paths through an innovative approach, covering Language Arts, Mathematics, and values. Developed in partnership with the School of Education at Universidad Austral and carried out by volunteers, we collaborate with 15 public schools attended by the students.

Literacy

Our students have great learning potential. They just need us to provide the right educational opportunities to learn to read and write. Some of them still haven’t learned how to do so.

That is why we launched a project aimed at teaching literacy to students attending our School Support programs who are in the final years of primary school, through the DALE! literacy program.

Technological tools

Within some of Pilares’ School Support programs, thanks to their participation in Potenciar Solidario, the technology platforms Glifing and Matific are implemented. These platforms reinforce reading and writing as well as mathematics content for children aged 5 to 12.

These applications are used through mobile devices or tablets in specific school support sessions for children who need to deepen their understanding of the content.

Technology classrooms

At AVA, and Sonrisitas de Pinazo, we set up technology classrooms operate through the use of technological tools, utilizing computers, notebooks and tablets.

ATE - Educational Pathways Support Project

It aims to identify problematic situations that require psychosocial support, in order to monitor, through professionals, those psychosocial issues that directly affect learning acquisition and require ongoing treatment or support. To achieve this, we have a professional team consisting of educational psychologists, speech therapists, and psychologists, who provide comprehensive support to children, understanding the teaching-learning processes as a whole, beyond the classroom space of the Pilares de Aprendizaje School Support program. This approach acknowledges that students are part of a social, family, and cultural environment that influences and predisposes them with greater or lesser opportunities for learning.

PSe Program – Psycho-Socio-Emotional

We create a psychosocial support space for the children participating in Pilares’ School Support program, with the aim of providing tools for psycho-emotional problem-solving, addressing aspects that go beyond the educational setting.

Specific objectives:

  • Deepen the concept of emotional education and recognize its influence as a strategy for preventing risky behaviors in childhood.

  • Recognize the school support program as a space for emotional development and holistic education.

  • Create environments of emotional safety, respect, and trust where children and their parents feel valued.

  • Develop a sense of belonging to the peer group and the support program.

  • Strengthen the bond between the institution and the students’ families.

This is made possible thanks to a team of professionals and volunteers in psychology, educational psychology, speech therapy, counseling, and social work, educational psychology students from USAL, students from the Chopin Institute of Educational Psychology, and emotion workshops led by the School of Social Psychology of Pilar.

HEALTH EDUCATION

We aim to encourage children to take an active role in building their own health, incorporating comprehensive actions into the different school support spaces in coordination with other NGOs, health centers, and the Disability Department. We conduct community workshops and activities that help improve children’s health conditions. We also work in partnership with independent medical professionals and nutrition students from UCES and Austral University.

NETWORKING WITH SOUP KITCHENS AND COMMUNITY PANTRIES IN PILAR

At PILARES, we support the community kitchens we work with through specific donations and food contributions, aiming to strengthen the relationship between the Association and these institutions.

We regularly assess the needs of each kitchen in order to provide assistance and reinforce networked collaboration between social leaders and organizations.

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING

This practice helps companies create social value, in addition to generating benefits and economic value. It promotes respect for diversity and solidarity, while increasing motivation.

We invite companies and their employees to help improve the physical conditions of public schools in the Pilar district.
